Update #1

Whoo-Hooo, Ya'll! I'm so excited!!!

So long as Jason doesn't chicken out at the last minute, He and I are getting tattoo's Monday (3-9-09) evening. I have decided to get one about the diameter of a softball on the back side of my side, just above my hip on the left side. It will feature one red rose with a few petals already open and the others still slightly closed, and two white daisies and pail blue ribbon. This is my wedding bouquet, down-sized. I chose one rose to represent my husband, Jason, and me, and each daisy represents each one of my children. If we have more kids, I'll add more daisies.

I can't wait! I may only get the out line this time as it will take about 2.5 hours and I don't like needles. I will show you pics as it is completed and heals.

Update #2

So, today is 3-10-09 and........(drum-roll, please).......I've been ink'd!

This has been an incredible experience. And it's been a long time coming. It took two years to decide WHAT I wanted the tattoo to be of. Then, ten years of waiting for DH to come around to the idea. After all that time had gone by and all of the researching I'd done, I still had only scratched the surface! There was finding a good artist I felt I could trust who worked in a clean/sterile facility, learning what distinguishes a "great" tattoo from a "good" tattoo from a "really bad" tattoo, tattoo etiquette, and, of course, after care. But I won't get into that here. Instead, I plan to write a mini-series about all of these things to help other first timers, too. So watch out for it.

Now, I know a lot of people say tattoo's don't hurt. And they're absolutely right, TATTOO'S don't hurt, but the needles - they do! But really, it depends on your level of pain tolerance AND where you get the tattoo. I got mine in a really sensitive location (apparently) and I think I have an average level of pain tolerance. I still ended up using several birthing techniques to cope with the pain and Andy, my artist, said I did great. I'll let you in on these in the mini-series.

Yay!! How exciting :D The wedding bouquet was a great idea! I think I'm going to finally go ahead with the first steps of my tattoo as well. Ironically, it's roses as well haha

That's really exciting! Roses, cool. I never thought I'd get roses because they are so common. But Andy ("my" artist) did an AMAZING job on it! It looks exactly like I wanted it to. Take your time and choose wisely, though, it'll be on ya' forever.

I'll say.. the forever kinda freaked me out but I think I'm finally ready. Your tattoo turned out great :) And I'm very excited for the tattoo mini-series for the first-timers (me!). That should be a lot of good info and fun to read :D Congrats!!
